The Most Appropriate Use of ‘Freebird’ Ever

During Sunday afternoon's meeting between the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs, there was an unwelcome guest on the field.

A boldy defiant pigeon plopped himself down right in the middle of the gridiron action and decided to stay put.

Maybe he didn't think that he was in any danger of being tackled? The game was, after all, a meeting between two of the lowest ranked teams in the National Football League.

The bird got almost as much playing time as the Kansas City offense. A video uploaded to YouTube by a fan in attendance has over seven minutes of footage of the bird on the field.

Our most sincere appreciation goes out whoever was running the public address system at Overstock.com Coliseum on Sunday for deciding to play Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird" as ground crews attempted to contain the pigeon. Check out the hilarity in the video below:
