A Trip To Boston Made Me Appreciate NJ Beaches Even More

I don't fully understand why people give the beaches in Jersey such a hard time. After visiting a buddy in Boston this past weekend, who insisted the beaches near his house were so much better than what we have in Jersey, I think our Jersey beaches are unbeatable.

I hear complaints regularly about Jersey beaches, mainly that it's crazy how much they charge for you to get on the beach, when other states open their beaches to the public. I've been to Delaware beaches, I've been to beaches in the Carolinas, and in Maryland that are free, and although it's a beach, it really doesn't have the same feel as a day on the Jersey Shore.

After A Visit To A Beach In Boston, You'll Never Complain About NJ Beaches Again

This past weekend, I spent some time in Boston to visit a friend who recently moved there, and I'll admit, it's an amazing city that I can't wait to visit again; however, the beaches were definitely lacking when compared to what I'm used to in Jersey.

Boston Beaches Weren't All Bad

Let's start with the positives: the beach was situated near the airport, so you were able to watch planes take off and land while you enjoyed the sun. That was really cool. It was also a free beach, and when you stepped off the beach, you were in the city. That was a really cool experience.

But Boston Beaches Just Weren't As Good As NJ Beaches

But the sand just didn't feel right; there were so many rocks that every time you took a step, especially near the water, you would wince from a shot of pain, like stepping on a Lego.

On top of that, the water was in the harbor, not the ocean, so it wasn't exactly the cleanest-looking water to be wading in, and if you were hoping for a cool breeze off the water... forget it.

I'm really convinced that the beaches we have in Jersey are better than anywhere else in the country.
