This Secret Bar On Seaside Heights, NJ Boardwalk Is A Football Lovers Dream

I probably shouldn't even be telling you this, but sometimes a secret is too good not to share, and if you're a football fan at the Jersey Shore, you may thank me.

The other week, I went to Seaside Heights to watch the Seahawks-Packers game. I've been a Seahawks fan for years, and as a fan of a West Coast team living on the East Coast, watching my team has always been a challenge.

Popular Seaside Heights Bars for Football Sundays

Thankfully, places like the Anchor Inn, B2, Sawmill, and the Ocean View all have amazing deals on Sundays, where they play all of the games throughout the day, so people can enjoy whatever team they root for.

Cut to last week; The Giants, Jets, and Bills were all playing at 1 O'clock, and all of my normal football bars in Seaside Heights were packed.

My wife and I tried to find a spot in Sawmill, but we were like sardines trying to squeeze through all of the people. Same problem at Ocean View as well.

We tried four other bars on the boardwalk, plus a few off the boardwalk, and were met with the same problem.

Discovering JR's Bar in Seaside Heights

Then, as we were walking East on Sumner Avenue towards the boardwalk, we saw a neon NFL sign in a window, and saw that it was illuminating the entrance to JR's in Seaside Heights.

We had never been to JR's before; in fact, we weren't even sure if it was a bar or not, but this instantly became our new go-to for Sunday afternoon football.

What to Expect at JR's Bar & Marruca's Pizza

Attached to Marruca's pizza, JR's Bar has a small restaurant area, a bar that seats maybe 35 people, and a full lineup of craft and domestic beers and spirits.

And the best part? We were able to comfortably grab a seat, and my Seahawks were prominently displayed on one of the many TVs they had hanging in the bar.

Football, Pizza, Beer & Bingo Sundays at JR's

JR's even does bingo on Sunday afternoons from noon to four, so not only could we watch football and enjoy some pizza and beer, but we could also have fun playing live bingo in between plays.

This little bar saved my football Sunday, and if you ever run into the same problem I had, where the bigger bars in Seaside are all full, and your team is playing, you'll want to slide into JR's and give them a try.
