Cape May Ferry Sunk To Create Artificial Reef
There are a number of artificial reefs along the Jersey Shore, around Sea Girt or Manasquan - even sinking the US Coast Guard Cutter Tamaroa, famous for being part of rescue missions during the “Perfect Storm” of 1991.
Now, the Twin Capes Ferry was declared surplus by the Delaware River and Bay Authority, and sunk off the coast of Cape May late last week.
The boat fell about 130 feet to the ocean floor, to become a habitat for a variety of sea life.
