I've been an opponent of Tim Tebow's attempt at becoming a baseball player...but that doesn't mean I couldn't go check him out in person along with about 6,000 others (including Townsquare News' Vin Ebenau, who got up-close with Tebow during his media session).

In the first inning, a high fly ball was hit towards left-field, and Tebow lost it in the sky. He converged with the shortstop and third-baseman, and none of them made the play as the ball fell squarely between the trio.

Here's Tim Tebow's first at-bat against the BlueClaws

That was initially ruled a hit, later changed to an error. He ended up the day 0-3 with two strikeouts and a walk. He also committed an error in left. He was lifted in the 8th inning.

There were TONS of Tebow jerseys, mostly from the Florida Gators and New York Jets. I did see a lot of Columbia Fireflies tshirts with Tebow's name and number, and I spotted a good amount of Broncos gear as well. The crowd paid the most attention to his at-bats, and there was a bit of a lift anytime the BlueClaws hit a ball towards left.

During pregame warmups there was a massive crowd of people down the leftfield line trying to get pictures or autographs. Tebow did spend a few minutes signing items before first pitch. My wife and I left around the 8th inning as the rain started to fall, but my mom, aunt & young cousins stayed. My cousin wanted to meet Tebow so they actually hung out near the Fireflies' bus, but a rep said Tebow wasn't coming out to sign.
