The past 18 months have been an experience, to say the least. We suffered through and continue to deal with the 100-year pandemic known as Covid19. The weather has dealt us with storms like no other. When was the last time we here in New Jersey had to deal with these many tornado warnings?

There are 18 towering structures, standing on the shorelines of the Garden State. For decades, these beacons of light have been guiding the captains of vessels through the open waters, to help reach their various destinations.

One of the most iconic voices in the history of rock celebrates a birthday today. Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant, is adding a 73rd candle to his birthday cake. Born in West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England on August 20, 1948.

There is NO REASON why we beachgoers can’t do a better job in protecting the Jersey Shore. Every year, Clean Ocean Action conducts “Beach Sweeps” up and down the Jersey Coast to collect and document what is simply just trash left behind by those who enjoy the surf. It’s easy to point our fingers to a “Benny”, but those of us who live here are guilty just the same.

I LOVE the Summer! The end-August was always a sad time for me as a kid. (Almost as much now). This means the summer is almost over. Not only would the warm weather soon change to cooler temperatures of the fall, but I had to focus on returning to school. Say nothing about the upcoming winter months, and the sun setting earlier and earlier in the day. YUCK!

Let me just preface this article by saying…as a motorist, a cyclist, and at one time a moped owner, I understand the rationale of being courteous to others on the road and trying and practice a high level of etiquette. Unfortunately, I think it is safe to say everyone has experienced a time when someone who shares the road by other means of transportation, has not extended the same amount of courtesy.

Big beach concerts at the Jersey Shore have become the norm in recent years. The artists and their genre of music have attracted thousands of fans from around the world. When the pandemic hit, everything stopped.

Experts say the creative world of art is such a healthy way to express oneself. Psychologists will often have children draw pictures to express themselves after they encountered a tragic incident in their lives. Our individual creative juices flow to our own individual beat. The sound of music either performed or consumed as a listener always seems to help soothe the soul, to heal many ailments.

When New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy reversed course on his relaxed mask mandate in the Garden State, that decision did not sit very well with many. Especially the Board of Education in Berkeley Township. More on that below.

The summer season always brings a smile to my face. As I age, the warmer weather is also rather comforting to my body. Some would argue the Jersey Shore weather tends to get too hot. When it comes to the humidity, I would agree. But I would take a warm climate over a cold climate every day of the week.
