In case you haven't heard, the Circus Drive-In in Wall is for sale. While many of us have been sharing memories of going there (or working there) over the past decades, others are swooping in for cheap publicity.

PETA wants to turn the site into a "museum of animal torture." They want to feature a life-size boxcar to show children how animals are transported. They want to display whips and chains and cattle prods. Don't get me wrong, I totally agree that those implements are twisted, and the treatment of many circus animals is abusive. BUT I think it's absurd to set this up under the pretense of "inspiring residents and tourists to practice compassion", which is what PETA claims.

Is this the same compassion that PETA showed when they wanted to euthanize the Seaside boardwalk cats?

Is this the same compassion that PETA shows when they kill thousands of animals each year?

Is this the same compassion that PETA shows when they try to take seeing-eye dogs away from the blind?

Is this the same compassion that PETA shows when they support the Earth Liberation Front and the Animal Liberation Front, both of which are notorious for fire-bombing laboratories?

Luckily the real estate company representing the property said “it’s not gonna happen. I represent this owner to get the highest and best use of the property.” Selling or leasing the property to PETA “not in the best interest of my client,” according to Gerard Norkus, senior vice president of Harold Wien Real Estate.

Go S- a B- of D-s, PETA.
