No…You Can’t Bring Your Pet Ferret on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk
As we all know...dogs are not permitted on the Seaside Heights boardwalk between Palm Sunday, and November 1st. After November 1st, you are allowed to walk your dog on the boardwalk. That is the current ordinance...about dogs only
The ordinance doesn't say anything about other pets on the boardwalk, and people have been taking advantage of that little "loophole" in the system.
People also try to get away with bringing their dogs up on the boardwalk during the summer by keeping their little dogs in strollers. That is a no-no also
Seaside officials have noticed a lot of other animals up on the boardwalk over the years. Visitors to the boardwalk have been bringing leashed cats, ferrets, and even lizards on the boards for a leisurely stroll.
This past Wednesday, Seaside Heights officials have introduced an expanded list of animals that includes ferrets, rabbits, birds, snakes, lizards and pigs to be added to the ordinance.
According to Shorebeat:
The ordinance passed on first reading with a 7-0 vote. It requires a public hearing and second vote to be enshrined into the borough code.
