The Iconic Jersey Jerk Is Flying Over The Skies Of New Jersey Once More
New Jersey has a rich history in the military world, as well as the world of aviation.
Jersey is also home to one of the biggest air shows on the East Coast; the Atlantic City Airshow.
Did you also know that Jersey is home to one of only two National Guardsmen to earn the title of "Flying Ace" during World War 2?
A Flying Ace is someone who shoots down at least 5 enemy aircraft while in the line of duty, and NJ native Donald J. Strait had a confirmed 13 kills during World War 2 while piloting the Jersey Jerk.
During his time in service, Donald flew over 100 combat missions in World War 2 and he is truly a New Jersey hero, so it makes sense that his plane is being honored once again in 2024.
According to NJ.com, the iconic fighter jet the Jersey Jerk is flying again in honor of Donald J. Strait.
The plane is being flown by the 119th Fighter Squadron at the Atlantic City Air National Guard Base and the plane's tale is marked with the legendary Jersey Jerk logo.
The Jersey Jerk is a behemoth of a fighter jet; an F-16C Jet that will be flown out of the 119th squadron which is located in Egg Harbor Township.
It's things like this that make us proud to be from New Jersey, we have a rich history and do whatever we can to cherish it and make sure that it lives on.
