USPS Proposes To Increase Shipping Rates Ahead Of Holiday Season

This year, the United States Postal Service will once again be raising prices, but before everyone gets up in arms, the rate hike isn't permanent, and it's to help you out in the long run.

According to News 12, the USPS has proposed to increase shipping rates for the upcoming holiday season.

The proposed increase would take effect on October 4th and would be in place for the next 17 weeks through January 17th.

How Much Is The USPS Increasing Rates For The 2026 Holiday Season?

USPS will raise the rates depending on the size, weight, and zone of the package. For example, the smallest increase would be seen in zones 1-4, with packages weighing between 0 and 3 pounds; it would be a 50-cent increase.

The largest increase would come into play when you start using Priority Mail, specifically zones 5-9 involving packages that weigh between 20 and 70 pounds. There, you'd see an increase of $20.80. Sure, that's a lot, but you're also mailing a massive package and expecting it to arrive in a shorter span of time.
