Strathmere Just Voted To Require Beach Badges Starting In 2027

It's the end of an era at the Jersey Shore, and this one is hitting me right in the feels. I remember growing up, we'd spend summers in Sea Isle City, and a few days each week, we'd head down to Whale Beach (Strathmere) to surf fish just because the beach was free.

Now, that's changing. A few weeks ago, the idea of charging to use the beach in Strathmere was presented, and after debating it over the summer, it looks like if you want to go to the beach in Strathmere next year, you'll have to start wearing a beach badge.

According to NJ.com, the new law passed earlier this week.

How Much Will A Beach Badge For Strathmere, NJ, Cost?

This is the big question, right? How much am I going ot have to pay to get onto the Strathmere beach?

A season badge will run you $45, but if you buy them between October 4th and Presidents Day, they're only $30.

A day badge will run you $10, and a weekly badge will cost you $20

What Will The Beach Badge Money Be Used For?

Officials say that the money will be used exclusively for beach repairs and replenishment, and with how much our storms have been eroding beaches lately, I can see where the money will come in handy.

However, I think $45 may be a little steep for beach badges in Strathmere, when half a mile down the road you could get a beach badge for Sea Isle City, and that'll only run you $30, or, if you buy it early in the year, it only costs $25!

That being said, where we're at in Ocean County, we pay about $50 for beach badges every year... so anything less than that may seem reasonable!
