I Want Johnson’s Popcorn on the Jersey Shore Boardwalks — Here’s Why

I've been feeling nostalgic lately, thinking about summers as a kid in South Jersey: Sea Isle City, Cape May, Ocean City, and it's dawned on me that our boardwalks in Ocean and Monmouth counties are missing something that I would love to see open up our way.

Granted, our boardwalks here are amazing; in fact, Jenkinson's was just voted one of the best boardwalks in America, and they're always adding new and fun shops, stands, and restaurants, like the Philly Soft Pretzel Factory that recently opened at Jenkinson's.

If You Could Bring One Storefront To A Boardwalk, What Would It Be?

But even with all the changes we see, what I'm nostalgic for isn't likely to open near us, and that's because it's stayed pretty local to South Jersey... but I'd love to get a petition together to try and change that.

Johnson's Popcorn Should Open A Location In Ocean Or Monmouth County

If I could bring anything up to the boardwalks in Ocean and Monmouth Counties, it'd be a Johnson's Popcorn stand.

If you're not familiar, Johnson's Popcorn has been a staple in South Jersey since the 1940's, and is huge on the Ocean City, NJ, boardwalk. The popcorn is as fresh as it gets and comes in a few different flavors, from butter to cheddar to my personal favorite, caramel.

Johnson's Popcorn Is Available To Order Online, But It's Not The Same

Sure, you can buy Johnson's Popcorn in grocery stores in Jersey, already pre-packaged in that iconic plastic tub, and sure, you can get it shipped to you,  but it doesn't compare to getting hot and fresh right there on the boardwalk. I'd love to see a Johnson's open up on the Seaside Heights boardwalk, or in Asbury, or on Jenkinson's. At this point, all I can do is cross my fingers and keep praying that maybe one day, it'll happen.
