A Jackson woman who lost control of her 2009 Nissan Altima in a head-on collision in Freehold Township has succumbed to her injuries, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni. 

Investigators say 55-year old Debra Vattelana tried to make her way around the right hand curve while heading south along Siloam road Friday morning minutes shy of 9:00 am, when suddenly she lost control of her car, crossed the center line and collided with a  2015 Nissan Pathfinder that was heading northbound.

As a result of the collision Vattelana was ejected from her car and suffered immediate life-threatening injuries.

She was transported to CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township where she passed away at 9:42 am.

Rada Shakov, 40, of Toms River, who was the driver of the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder was also transported to CentraState Medical Center but with moderate injuries.

She was treated and released.

Freehold Township Police were the first to respond to the accident Friday.

The joint investigation is being conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Freehold Township Police and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART).
