Iron Sky  (2012)

What if, after suffering defeat in World War II, a group of Nazis were able to escape to the moon? This small population set up a base, continued their research, bred a new population of Aryans, and prepared for revenge against the United States.

In this universe, 2018 is an election year. In order to drum up some publicity, the president (a clear parody of Sarah Palin) decides to send astronauts back to the moon. While doing some exploring, one of the astronauts stumbles upon a strange base, is surrounded by space-stormtroopers, and killed. The second astronaut is captured and accused of being a spy for the US. Much to the surprise of the Nazis, this second astronaut is a black man, James Washington. The Nazi scientists perform experiments on him, bleaching his skin and hair.

One of the high-ranking Nazi officers learns that Washington's smart phone possesses more technology than they have on the moon, and decides to return to Earth to collect more phone batteries in order to provide power for their new moon-based superweapon. When they return to Earth, Washington ends up homeless, ranting about how he used to be black, while two Nazis end up working on the campaign for the President's reelection.

The lead Nazi heads back to space, and proceeds to attack Earth. The US and other countries launch a counter-attack with nuclear weapons, an insane space battle ensues, and in the end humanity's true nature is revealed, for better or worse.

The script is dopey, the acting is cartoony, but it's just meant to be a B-movie, something to watch at a midnight showing. This movie is just fun madness from beginning to end. It's the sort of premise that is so insane, it almost makes sense. We know that real Nazi scientists were working on flying-saucer-esque machines, so why couldn't they have secretly succeeded in fleeing the planet and hiding out on the dark side of the moon? Can you prove to me that there isn't someone or something hiding up there right now?
