Shore Sports Network concludes its girls basketball Player of the Week feature this week, recognizing performers in Shore Conference girls basketball with a chance for the SSN readers to pick the best of the best.

As has been the case throughout the season, all of this week's nominees were submitted by their head coaches via email.

Read about this week's nominees and vote for the one that strikes you as the best pick for overall Player of the Week. The top vote-getter will receive a $25 gift card to the Jersey Mike's.

Girls Basketball Week 9 Player of the Week Nominees

Olivia Conroy, Donovan Catholic

Conroy turned in two strong performances for the Griffins, who had high hopes of reaching the SCT semifinals for the first time before coming up short vs. Rumson-Fair Haven in the quarterfinals. Conroy did her best to carry her team in that loss, putting up 23 points and seven rebounds. One round earlier, Conroy went for 19 points and seven rebounds in a win over Middletown South.

Julia Corsentino, Rumson-Fair Haven

Corsentino was on fire throughout the Shore Conference Tournament, even in her team’s one-sided loss to powerhouse St. John Vianney. The junior sharpshooter went off for 31 points with seven three-pointers, seven rebounds and two steals in a round-of-16 win over Ranney, then followed that up with 24 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a payback win for the Bulldogs over Donovan Catholic in the quarterfinals. Despite her team falling on Tuesday to SJV, Corsentino had a strong scoring effort with a game-high 19 points.

Rylee Drahos, Shore

Shore could not quite crack the code vs. Marlboro in the opening-round of the Shore Conference Tournament, but Drahos had a good performance in trying to help the cause. Drahos scored 20 points to go with six rebounds in the loss, then put up 27 points, seven rebounds and six steals in a follow-up win over Mater Dei Prep later in the week.

Abbey Ferguson, Holmdel

Holmdel was on the cusp of reaching the Shore Conference Tournament semifinals by putting a serious scare into No. 3 Manasquan and Ferguson had as much to do with that as anyone. The Hornets senior scored 18 points, pulled in seven rebounds and dished out four assists in the 62-59 battle against the Warriors, which was a follow-up to a steady four points and 12 rebounds in a rout of Lacey in the round of 16.

Lizzie Gillen, Toms River East

Toms River East scored a first-round road win as the No. 18 seed in the Shore Conference Tournament and it was the Raiders senior leader who sparked the upset at Red Bank. Gillen posted 23 points, 14 rebounds and three steals in the win over the Bucs and although a return trip to Red Bank to face Red Bank Catholic in the next round was unsuccessful, Gillen did manage to pour in 14 points against one of the state’s better defensive teams.

Brooke Hollawell, Manasquan

Hollawell’s 2021 season ended in the Shore Conference playoffs when she suffered a torn ACL and a little less than one year later, she is back and making big contributions for a Manasquan team that is in the Shore Conference Tournament championship game. Hollawell came up with 13 points in a round-of-16 rout of Marlboro, delivered 12 points – including the go-ahead drive to the basket late in the fourth quarter – in an exciting win over Holmdel, and poured in nine points in an impressive Manasquan win over Red Bank Catholic on Tuesday.

Zoe Maffei, Jackson Memorial

Jackson Memorial made a serious run at the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals, but came up a little short in a round-of-16 loss to Class A South division rival Toms River North. Maffei did her part in her team’s two-game stay in the tournament, scoring 26 points and grabbing seven rebounds in a first-round win over Howell, then putting up a 24-and-7 line in the loss at Toms River North.

Rosie Scognamiglio, St. Rose

After a six-game absence, Scognamiglio returned to star for St. Rose in its Shore Conference Tournament opening-round win over Mater Dei. The junior scored 24 points, hit five three-pointers, grabbed four rebounds, handed out four assists and picked off four steals to lead the Purple Roses into the round of 16, where they fell to another Class B Central rival, Trinity Hall.
