Check Out the List of the Dirtiest Jersey Shore Beaches
People are very loyal to their favorite beach. Maybe you have been going to the same beach for years, possibly decades!
I know you DO NOT want to see YOUR beach on this list of the "Jersey Shore's Dirtiest Beaches"
The Patch compiled this list based on the beaches that have had multiple advisories, and have been closed the most since 2000 due to contamination defined as sewage, high levels of bacteria and stormwater runoff.
River and Bay Beaches appear on the list the most in Monmouth and Ocean Counties due to stormwater runoff, and animal waste. A few of those beaches in Ocean County are:
- Beachwood Beach West, Beachwood, Ocean (River) 93
- Windward Beach, Brick Township, Ocean (River) 45
- 25th St Bay Front, Barnegat Light, Ocean (Bay) 15
- Wildwood, Ocean Gate, Ocean (River) 11
- Money Island, Toms River, Ocean (River) 6
But good news! Only ONE ocean beach in Ocean County made the list:
- Leeward Street, Beach Haven (Ocean) 5
