Normally where I live in Toms River I don't normally hear the booms and explosions coming from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst when they are conducting testing.

This past Thursday I heard a bunch of them, and I even heard a few over the weekend as well.

I'm sure plenty of you heard them as well, so don't be alarmed if you continue to hear them through mid-week.

According to the Patch:

The Joint Base publishes a monthly "noise level calendar," and that calendar indicates "abundant noise" from the base through July 23.

It's actually been hard to tell this year if the explosions we have been hearing is from the Joint Base or neighborhood fireworks.

Every night in Ocean County it seems like we are hearing military-like explosions. People are certainly enjoying their fireworks this year.

So...If you hear some extra powerful rumbles this wee, you now know why
