Bridge Connecting Two Jersey Shore Towns Closed Indefinitely
A recent underwater inspection revealed structural damage on the Townsend Inlet Bridge that connects Avalon and Sea Isle City.
The dive team found heavy deterioration on one of the supports on the Avalon side of the bridge, along with what appeared to be a new crack and movement on another piling.
The bridge has been closed indefinitely, and repairs are planned for winter 2017-2018.
In February we showed you that 16 bridges in Ocean County were considered "structurally deficient", and if you change that map to Cape May County, it does reflect the damage of the Townsend Inlet Bridge.
