Where Is Beltley, New Jersey Located?

A small stretch of land in between the "Welcome To Nutley" sign and the "Welcome to Belleville" sign made John Cozzarelli think to himself, "Why can't this be Jersey's newest municipality?"

How Beltley, New Jersey Came To Be

So, that's what he did. He now stands in "Beltley" with a Welcome to Beltley sign welcoming people who drive through his municipality. The small area features a field, a parking lot, and a playground. What more do you need?

Beltley almost wasn't called Beltley at first; John Cozzarelli also toyed with the idea of calling his new town Nutville, but decided against it because it sounded too "Nutley-centric," whereas Beltville is the perfect combination of the two names.

This just goes to show that one person with an idea and a whole lot of free time can actually make a difference in their town. Locals apparently use the term Beltley now as a reference point for directions.

Is Beltley, New Jersey Real? Who Really Owns That Land?

All that being said, the land that Beltley sits on is technically owned by Belleville, but it's still a fun local quirk that makes New Jersey a fun place to live.
