One of my favorite spots in Downtown Toms River for a drink used to be Garden State Distillery, right off Washington Street. It was right around the corner from work and was an easy place to grab a fancy cocktail and unwind before heading home.

Garden State Distillery vacated Downtown Toms River at the beginning of this year, though, as they plan on opening a larger location in Brick, more on that right here.

For a while, the building sat empty, with no exact word on what was going to move in.

Then, a few weeks ago, I was grabbing a slice at Capone's and just happened to ask the woman behind the counter if she had any idea what was moving in next door to them, and she mentioned that another distillery was coming, but didn't know who or when.

Then yesterday, while going for a quick walk around Downtown Toms River, I saw this sign above the former Garden State Distillery.

If you're not familiar with Battle Grounds Distillery, it's a woman-owned distillery that's made a real mark in the Garden State.

You can currently buy their spirit in liquor stores all over New Jersey, and Battle Grounds Distillery just happens to make one of my bourbons at the Shore. It's delicious.

Battle Grounds Distilling Is Owned By Battle Ground Brewing

Battle Grounds Distillery is, in fact, operated by the same people who operate Battle Grounds Brewery in Downtown Toms River, and I can't wait for this new spot to open up.

Although there's no exact opening date, you know I'll keep you updated on when this place finally opens its doors!
