Eagles' safety Malcolm Jenkins was the first Eagle to publicly declare he would not attend the traditional White House visit if the team was invited.

Teammates Torrey Smith and Chris Long also said they would not make the trip if invited.

Jenkins has been raising a fist during the National Anthem since Week 2 of the 2016 season.

Piscataway Mayor Brian Wahler of Piscataway, where Jenkins grew up, made a statement supporting Jenkins.

Donald Trump’s record on the rule of law and civil rights has been abhorrent. Throughout this past football season, Trump has done nothing but denigrate the professional athletes and ruthlessly criticize the NFL for his own despicable public relations stunts. I do not know why any NFL player would want to go into this White House and provide this president with a celebratory platform. I wish Malcolm many wonderful celebrations of his second Super Bowl win far away from Donald Trump.
