Brick Mayor John Ducey made the big announcement that not one but two restaurants will take over the building that has been sitting empty since Joe's Crab Shack closed.

The best part of the announcement? Neither restaurant is a chain, instead both are local eateries expanding to new locations!

The building will be split into two separate places: Tre & Rosalita's Roadside Cantina.

Tre is an Italian restaurant with its own beer garden, with a current location on Route 33 in Freehold.

Rosalita's Roadside Cantina is adding a second location in addition to their current spot on Route 9 in Englishtown, and will feature a combination of Italian and Mexican food.

Both restaurants will share a kitchen and liquor license, so alcohol will be served at both venues.

My wife and I ate at Joe's once, and it was...lackluster? It wasn't bad, but wasn't anything that made me want to become a repeat customer. It may be cliche to open a new Italian restaurant in Jersey, but I'm still looking forward to trying out both Tre & Rosalita's.
