It all begins on at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, November 11, when the parade steps off with Grand Marshal George Convery in the lead.
Convery is a Toms River High School graduate who served in the Navy during Vietnam, spending 10 months overseas as a machinist's mate on the USS America CVA-66. He followed that with a temporary assignment in the First Marine Division, taking part in search and rescue missions.
Marchers begin at the Toms River Shopping Center on Route 37, heads south on Main Street, and then east at Washington Street.
A ceremony follows in front of Toms River Town Hall, highlighted by a commemorative salute at 11:11 AM, the time that was given for the signing of the Armistice that ended the Great War on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.
Speeches follow, along with the placing of a wreath on the township's Veterans Monument.
Finally, the Ocean County Library on Washington Street opens its doors for a celebration that includes refreshments, entertainment, and special insights by Toms River Township Historian (also Township Clerk and former Mayor) J. Mark Mutter. Admission is free and it's open to the public.
