A Toms River Police Officer needs medical attention for injuries sustained while working an undercover operation.

During an undercover narcotics investigation, officers were approaching a suspect in his vehicle when he accelerated and struck an officer sending him onto the hood of the car and into the windshield.

The injured officer was taken to Community Medical Center and treated for his injuries.

The suspect was apprehended and will be charged accordingly.

Further details are expected to be released on Wednesday by Toms River Police.
