A Tell-Tale Sign That Summer’s Here in Ocean County New Jersey
There are a bunch of tell-tale signs of summer; the days are longer, the beaches are more crowded, the temperatures are warming up and farmer’s markets are popping up left and right! Now more than ever it's important to shop and support local, and a farmer’s market is the perfect way to do that.
I used to go once a week to a farmer’s market, every Saturday morning, and even if I didn’t buy anything, it was a great way to spend a morning walking around town. What’s nice about farmer’s markets is that they’re more than just people selling stuff; it’s a way to stay connected to your community.
Ocean County is no stranger to Farmer’s Markets., there’s one directly across the street from the station every Tuesday! The tradition continues in Barnegat, where there will be a large farmers' market every Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm, 14 Birdsall Street, according to Patch.com.
“There is no shortage of different vendors offering all sorts of things. Try fresh sourdough bread from the local Bay Ave Baking Company. Make a meal out of it by visiting one of the farm stands, like Krowicki Farms or Stillwell Farms, and getting some great local produce. For something special, check out Cream Ridge Winery or Little Water Distillery for some drinks.”
Now, if you’re thinking “well this is in the middle of the week and in the middle of the day, I can’t go.” Well why not make a day of it? Take a day off, and bring the family down to Barnegat. Not only can you enjoy the Farmers Market, but there is a plethora of fun stuff to do around the area! Of course, there’s the beach, but you can also check out Island Beach State Park or spend the day walking around downtown.
