Sharks Are Following Seals Off The Jersey Shore
Researchers are tracking an increasing number of sharks in the waters of the Jersey Shore - none quite the size of the famous Mary Lee, but swimmers should still use caution.
According to Rutgers Marine Science Associate Professor Thomas Grothues, the sharks are following an increased number of seals up the East Coast. As the weather gets warmer, the seals head north to colder waters, which brings them right past New Jersey. The sharks follow the food source.
Grothues also pointed out that the threat of sharks has always been a thing, but modern ways to track and monitor them (like OCEARCH) just makes us more aware.
