It's not quite Mary Lee (16', 3400lb) - it's not quite Miss May either (10', 800lb) - but a trio of fishermen reeled in an impressive catch: a thresher shark coming in at almost 8 feet and 500 pounds!

NJ.com has a gallery of the fishermen and the catch of the day.

The fish they caught is actually on the smaller side for a thresher. According to Wiki, there are three species of thresher: the common, the bigeye, and the pelagic. The common is the largest, and can reach lengths of 20 feet and weigh 1,100 pounds. Bigeyes can get to around 16 feet, and pelagics to about 10 feet.
