Rather than me saying this place is a total disaster, I'm going to get creative and say that this is the Jersey Shore's best place to film a zombie apocalypse movie. At the very least, the directors of the Walking Dead could easily film a TV episode at this Jersey Shore location.

I was driving through my hometown of Wall Township and I was once again reminded about how terrible Peddler's Village looks. Seriously, what a mess! What are we doing people?!

The empty buildings are falling apart, the boarded-up windows look like they are waiting for a hurricane that's never going to happen, and the giant parking lot is being taken over by uncontrolled weeds. I don't know what you think when you drive by this place, but for me, I always think one day I'll see a bunch of zombies walking around in the parking lot. It's, unfortunately, a very bad and unnecessary eyesore for my beautiful hometown.

So what's the future?

Peddler's Village

I was hoping to show you a ton of pictures but I didn't want to get arrested for trespassing. You can only go so far into the parking lot... "There are cameras watching you."

It wasn't long ago there were reports about "new life" coming to Peddler's Village. In November of 2020, Nicole Rosenthal of Patch.com reported this:

The plan proposes 299 luxury housing units and 101 hotel rooms, with building heights at three stories, as well as office and retail space. While the developer deems the new project "a modern and sophisticated mix-use lifestyle center," its opponents say it will bring traffic congestion, overdevelopment and crowding to the community.

Obviously, that fell through. Would housing and hotel rooms be a good idea? I don't know, but it's a lot better than an abandoned dump. The future is still up in the air.

I might ruffle someone's feathers with this article, but I honestly don't care. Something needs to be done. Moving forward, it could be a great opportunity for the town and business developers.
