My recent family dinner was one for the books...

My grandparents grew up in Brooklyn, then they raised my mom and uncle on Long Island. For the last thirty years, they have been enjoying retirement in Vero Beach, Florida. Unfortunately, old age is starting to take over, so they moved back north to the Jersey Shore to be closer to family. They are currently living with my parents in Wall Township, but they plan on moving to an assistant living facility within the next few days. It's sad they aren't capable of staying in Florida, but it really is awesome seeing them and I am looking forward to spending more time with them. This May, for the second time, they will be great grandparents. How cool is that?!

So, the other night we had family dinner at my parents' house and of course the fireworks were going off. My grandma is 92 years old, and she still can throw back a few glasses of wine. When that happens, it turns into a comedy show. I was sprinkling parmesan cheese on my rigatoni and the next thing you know; I have my grandma in my ear talking about getting cremated. Then out of nowhere she started nagging my grandpa for literally no reason at all. It's classic haha! You can't help but smile and laugh. Of course, the political conversations start, I won't even go there...

I am sure many of you can relate to these types of family antics. Sometimes I wish I had a secret camera at the family dinner table, but then I probably would be fired from my job. At the end of the day, family is family. It's all fun and love - I hope you have a wonderful spring and summer with your loved ones! - Jimmy G
