Ocean County K9 Officer Injured During Investigation

An investigation is still underway and not many details have been released regarding a situation in Mantoloking that left a K9 officer injured.

The Ocean County Sheriff's Office updated their picture to honor K9 officers.

News12 has a brief description that shots were fired in the Route 35 area of Mantoloking. Law enforcement officials confirmed that a K9 officer was injured and taken to an animal hospital for treatment. There is no confirmed report of the status of the suspect or any other officers. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office and New Jersey State Police are all involved in the investigation.

I have a family friend who is a K9 officer, and the love between the human and the dog are incredible. Here's hoping the animal makes a full recovery!
