It's a new year and I'm all about positive news and vibes. So many are working tirelessly to make the nightmare that is COVID-19 a thing of the past. Vaccines have been rolled out, and now they are arriving in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

NJ.com is reporting that select Shoprite pharmacies in New Jersey will be administering the Moderna vaccine. Remember that this vaccine requires two inoculations. But how convenient is that? Get the vaccine and your groceries with one trip.

The first phase of vaccinations will focus on healthcare workers and those who are at a higher risk of contracting the virus.

In a news release Jeffrey Mondelli, vice president of Pharmacy, Health & Beauty at Wakefern Food Corp. said:

We are excited to be part of the initial stages of this unprecedented public health campaign as we begin vaccinating healthcare workers who are on the front lines in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here are the Shoprites in our area that will be administering the vaccine.

MONMOUTH COUNTY

  • ShopRite - Hazlet: 3120 Rt. 35
  • ShopRite - Marlboro: 280 Rt. 9

OCEAN COUNTY

  • ShopRite of Fischer Bay: 860 Fischer Blvd. Toms River
  • ShopRite of Manahawkin: 297 Route 72

Vaccinations will be available by appointment only and will also be free. For a list of statewide locations and more information, check out vaccines.shoprite.com.

Personally, I'm going into this year with a positive attitude. I think we all should. This is progress and great news to start the new year.
