If you're heading to SummerFest tonight at Windward Beach Park, you can leave your bathing suit at home.

Due to high bacteria levels in the Metedeconk River, swimming has been prohibited until further notice. The state standard says the concentration of bacteria must not exceed 104 colonies of Enterococci bacteria per 100 milliliters of sample - the Windward test found 340 colonies!

Symptoms of enterococci infection include fever, chills, fatigue, headache, abdominal pain, pain or burning when you urinate, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fast breathing or shortness of breath, chest pain when you breathe, stiff neck, & swollen, red, tender, or bleeding gums.

So yeah, stay out of the water.
