Hearing the news today of the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike tolls going up in the fall REALLY pisses me off! I am really angry about this.

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority Board unanimously Wednesday to approve a 36% toll increase on the Turnpike and a 27% increase for the Parkway to fund a $16 billion long-range capital plan.
According to the Daily Voice:

The average Turnpike toll goes from $3.50 to $4.80. What used to cost $13.85 to drive from Exit 1 to Exit 8W goes to $18.85.(Tolls for the largest trucks go from $56.85 to $77.30.)The average toll on the Garden State Parkway goes from $1.11 to $1.41. Tolls at most parkway plazas go to $1.90 from $1.50. Tolls at GSP on- and off-ramps will go from a range of 50 cents to $1.50 to from 65 cents to $1.90.

This is why I am angry...Governor Murphy ran for Governor on the main platform of legalizing marijuana and it still hasn't happened. The gas tax went up within the last year. That also might not have happened if the marijuana tax was implemented.
I promise...I am not angry that it hasn't been legalized yet for any personal reasons. I wouldn't be running to a dispensary the first moment they open. I don't care about that. I'm angry as to what all that additional revenue would be used for
That's what pisses me off!!
I could be wrong, but if marijuana would be legalized by now, this new toll increase might not have to happen, or maybe the increase wouldn't be so extreme. Look at all the states that have legalized marijuana already...Billions have dollars have gone to their school systems, statewide programs, AND fixing their roads and highways.
Colorado has generated over $1 billion dollars in taxes since marijuana was legalized back in 2014.
Sure I get it, we have been dealing with a global pandemic...The entire country is feeling the effects of COVID-19.
I totally understand why more and more people are moving out of New Jersey at an alarming rate...For some reason, our politicians don't see it
