I may have been the last person to use and enjoy Blockbuster's DVD-by-mail feature. In just about a month, it will be gone forever.

Blockbuster made the announcement yesterday that they would be closing the last remaining stores in the US, as well as shutting down their DVD mailing system.

I have been doing [Celluloid Hero] for a long time. I've been writing one per week with the Hawk, and before that I actually wrote reviews twice weekly. A vast majority of those movies were delivered to me through Blockbuster's mail program.

I really preferred Blockbuster's library in terms of older movies, rarer movies, more foreign films, and better movies overall when compared to Netflix or various OnDemand services.

I know RedBox is another option, but the rumors are already going around that they will also be going out of business. It seems like everything is shifting towards a strictly digital medium while ignoring the physical discs.

I think the best way to sum this up is that I'm simply averse to change. I had a nice system working, and now everything is ruined forever!  Actually, I'm mostly mad that I had over 200 movies in my Blockbuster Queue, and now I have to figure out how to get all of those from some other provider.  Any suggestions?
