Funtown Pier Could Return To Seaside Park, NJ With An Exciting Thrill Ride
Seaside has seen its fair share of change since Superstorm Sandy devastated the Jersey Shore thirteen years ago.
The boardwalk is always undergoing one change or another, motels are coming down, new houses are going up, and the shore town has become a vacation destination for hundreds of thousands of tourists each year.

Something that was always cool about Seaside was that it had two piers; Casino Pier and Funtown.
I was always a Funtown fan just because growing up I loved that massive log flume they had.
Sadly, we lost Funtown in a 2013 fire that completely destroyed the beloved pier, but if all goes according to plan Funtown Pier could be making a big return to the shore and could even have a big, exciting thrill ride.
Funtown Pier May Return To Seaside Park, NJ With An Exciting New Ride
I'd like to preface this with the fact that it seems like all of these plans are just that; plans.
There's a lot of work that would still have to be done for Funtown to come back, but what we've been hearing so far is very exciting.
According to APP, Funtown Pier owner William Major received permission from Seaside Park to move forward with plans to rebuild Funtown Pier in Seaside Park.
Major, who currently operates Funtown Beach, has been apparently working on the pier since that approval was given and the pier is being constructed out of concrete and still which would make it much sturdier against severe weather and fire.

What Majors also wants to do is add a big exciting thrill ride to Funtown Pier; a slingshot that would consist of two 200-foot towers that would shoot people high into the air for the thrill of a lifetime.
However, that ride may require more permits and red tape if approved, but it's still an exciting thought!
There's no word on how long it may take to bring Funtown Pier back to life, but it's an idea that has my inner child very happy.
