Where Did Pineapple on Pizza Originate?

There are tons of great toppings that go on pizza: cheese, extra cheese, ricotta, pepperoni, broccoli, sausage...

Pineapple is NOT one of them, sorry, not sorry. Who thought that red sauce, cheese, and PINEAPPLE would be a good combination? Okay, I understand that fruit and cheese are often paired together on charcuterie boards, so that's fine. But SAUCE AND PINEAPPLE? Real New Jerseyans know that this abomination of a pizza simply has no place in our state and that anyone who is a fan of it has got to go.

Maybe you're thinking "it's a Hawaiian delicacy," spoiler alert, it's not! This blog from Margaritaville shared that pineapple pizza started in CANADA! Check out an excerpt below:

Pineapple on pizza originated in the small town of Chatham, Ontario, Canada, far from the beaches of Hawaii that have become the namesake for the dish. It was restaurant owner and chef, Sam Panopoulos at his restaurant, Satellite Restaurant who has been given credit for being the Father of the Hawaiian Pizza.

And listen, if you do enjoy pineapple on pizza, know that I still love you. I am totally judging your taste, but I still do love you. Can we at least agree on the fact that you DO NOT dip pizza in ranch dressing (that's a whole other blog for another day).
