I'm looking for your help. I'm a curious person, and I have no idea where to start with finding out what's replacing the old Cassville Tavern off Cassville Road and 528.

For 50 years, the Cassville Tavern was a local favorite for good food and cold beer and was located inside one of the oldest buildings in America.

Then, in 2023, the Cassville Tavern closed its doors for good, but one thing we knew was that the building was purchased by Steven Pielli, so there was hope that something would soon replace it.

Fast forward to 2025, and there is work being done on the old Cassville Tavern, but it seems like a slow-going process.

This is a photo I took of the Cassville Tavern back in the winter of 2025, when I first noticed that the historic building was up on stilts and surrounded by fencing.

At that point, I couldn't tell if this was going to be a demo or a rebuild.

However, last weekend, as my wife and I were driving back to the Philadelphia area to visit our family, we saw that the old Cassville Tavern had a new look.

What's Going To Replace The Old Cassville Tavern In Jackson, NJ?

Clearly, the building is being prepped to be reopened, but what's going to replace the old Cassville Tavern?

I'm not the only one with that question.

On the Ocean County Memories Facebook page, someone made a similar observation to me that the old Cassville Tavern looked like it was being repurposed, but didn't know exactly what may be opening up.

The general consensus in the comments is that it's either going to be a new sports bar in Jackson, a new saloon, or a new restaurant. At least, that's the rumor.

If it is going to be a restaurant, I'm excited; this area is a nice halfway point on the way to see my parents, so it'd be nice to have a place to stop and grab a bite if need be.
