The U.S. Coast Guard medically evacuated a 71-year woman experiencing symptoms of a possible heart attack about 10-miles southeast of Sandy Hook on Sunday.

The Coast Guard Sector New York received a call about 10:25 pm Saturday about a woman aboard the cruise ship Anthem of the Seas who began to feel ill about 30-miles east of Asbury Park.

A Coast Guard flight surgeon recommended a medevac and a rescue boatcrew from Station Sandy Hook with Sea Bright emergency medical personnel aboard a 47-foot Motor Life Boat was launched.

The crew arrived on scene around 12:25 a.m. Sunday and found the woman and along with a doctor and three family members helped with the transfer to Station Sandy Hook.

When they arrived around 1:50 a.m. the woman was transferred to Sea Bright emergency medical personnel for transport to Monmouth Medical Center.

The woman’s condition currently is unknown.
