There aren't that many Wawa locations that don't have gas stations anymore. The store at the corner of Lanes Mill and Burnt Tavern roads in Brick will be undergoing a huge expansion.

Brick Township just approved a total overhaul of the location; the existing store will be torn down and replaced with a 4,736-square-foot store. The building next to Wawa (formerly Rice King) will also be torn down to make room for a new parking lot and 12 fuel pumps.

That location was my go-to Wawa growing up in Brick, and I'm not sure exactly how well this change will go. The owners of the Shell station across the street are mad (obviously), and residents nearby are complaining too. I know that whenever there is new construction, local residents get cranky, but that area is already congested with the new Parkway entrances and exits, so adding in this huge parking lot would just add more cars and more traffic.

Locals are also worried about the new skate park right across the street. If kids are running across the street to get drinks or food from Wawa, it'll be even more dangerous with the added traffic.

No timetable for construction was announced, but it will be interesting to see how this turns out.
