With a sweltering Friday bringing us into 2020's 4th of July weekend, a threat of severe weather is putting the Lakewood BlueClaws' Red, White & BlueClaws Fireworks Extravaganza presented by RWJBarnabas Health on pause until later this weekend.

The first big fireworks show of summer 2020 was set to kick off Friday evening, July 3rd at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood with music, food, and of course the traditional fireworks lighting up the sky.

The forecast is hitting the brakes on things for tonight though, as the National Weather Service calls for a chance of storms as we get further into Friday afternoon and into the evening.

According to the Lakewood BlueClaws official Facebook page, anybody with tickets to Friday night's Fireworks Extravaganza will be able to use them on Sunday, July 5th, with the festivities kicking off at 7 P.M. for in-park ticket holders and 8 P.M. for parking lot ticket holders.

Here's the official announcement from the Lakewood BlueClaws:

The BlueClaws also released a statement to their official website, with Team President Joe Ricciutti saying:

“While certainly we hoped to hold the event on Friday, the forecast at the time we needed to make the decision called for heavy rains and thunderstorms at the scheduled time of the event"
