Beach Umbrella Impales Woman In Seaside Heights
A 67-year-old woman from the United Kingdom was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune after being injured by a beach umbrella.
Seaside Borough Police Detective Steve Korman said "the force of the wind" caused a piece of the umbrella to pierce her ankle and be driven entirely through.
Emergency crews responded to the scene at about 4:30 p.m. and Seaside Heights Assistant Fire Chief William Rumbolo used a bolt cutter to cut the portion of the umbrella that connects to the frame to free the woman.
Police said they did not know how specifically the incident occurred and there were no updates on Reynolds' condition.
About two years ago this video from Maryland went viral.
Beach umbrellas are nothing to be messed with! I bought one of those simple screw-anchors for my umbrella, and it works like a charm.
