29 Things To Do In Jersey On February 29
We get an extra day this year - don't let it go to waste!
Here's a random collection of 29 fun things you can do to have the Ultimate Jersey Leap Day:
Start your day with a Pork Roll Egg & Cheese
Honestly, it doesn't matter what your fave deli or bagel shop is, just start your day the proper Jersey way with a PEC.
Enjoy the beach without bennies
It doesn't matter what beach, head to Belmar or Point or Seaside or Cape May, and just enjoy being a local. The weather might not be perfect for swimming or tanning, but it's a great time to just appreciate our area.
Gamble in Atlantic City
Some people consider Leap Day to be extra lucky, so why not take a chance?
See the Soft Parade at the Stone Pony
Tickets are still available to see this Doors tribute band at the Pony.
Watch snowy owls at Island Beach State Park
They're some of the most beautiful birds, and they make nests at IBSP.
See our local XFL Team
The NY Guardians are hosting the LA Wildcats at MetLife Stadium, and tix are just $30.
Try a donut at Uncle Dood's
Consistently named one of the best donuts in the state, check out Uncle Dood's in Toms River.
Pregame for the Belmar St. Patrick's Day Parade the next day
Parade season kicks off March 1st.
Bring the family to Jenks Aquarium
Seals, penguins, sharks, and more!
Check Out Laser Floyd at Novins Planetarium at OCC
Novins has tons of great classic rock laser shows, and on February 29th you can see both Laser: Dark Side of the Moon and Laser: The Wall.
Get another donut at OB-COs
Local faves, beloved for almost 70 years, OB-COs is a must-have for donut lovers.
Get ice cream at Mrs. Walker's
It's quickly become my fave ice cream spot in Ocean County.
Get literally anything at Confections of a Rockstar in Asbury Park
I LOVE CoaR on Cookman Avenue in Asbury. The owner Kimmee is awesome, all the food has classic rock names (oREO Speedwagon, S'More Than A Feeling, etc), and it's just a great local bakery.
Join the Whole Pie Eaters Club at Pete & Elda's
I did it twice in high school, so maybe it's time to test my limits again.
Eat at Sweet Jenny's
It was heart-breaking when the Sweet Jenny's spot on Route 9 burned down, but you can still get great food at their location in Barnegat.
Eat at the Lighthouse Tavern
I moved to Barnegat about a year ago, and this has become one of my family's favorite spots for dinner.
Eat at The Chicken or The Egg
The CHEGG is finally open year-round!
Try Caneda's White Rooster
See how things have turned out since Gordon Ramsay's visit.
Drink at Backward Flag in Forked River
Drink at Manafirkin in Manahawkin
Drink at Jughandle in Freehold
Drink at Tomfoolery in Hammonton
Drink in the rooftop igloos at the Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten
Saturday's weather is looking cold, so you'll want to be sheltered while you drink on a rooftop overlooking the AP beach.
Enjoy a Clambake for a Cause at Mud City Crab House
It's the 5th Annual Arctic Outreach fundraiser - food, beer, wine, hot cocoa, live music, and huge auction...and it's all outside!
Play at iPlay America in Freehold
iPlay has a ton of stuff for kids and adults, from laser tag to TopGolf, plus a full restaurant and bar.
Go fishing
Whether you want to head to the Atlantic or just hit a local lake, use the extra day for some relaxing fishing.
Take a hike
Ocean County has some great forest hikes, and if you want to head north you can take in some higher elevation hikes too.
Check out the Mainland Adventure Park
Every time I drive past the Mainland on Route 72 I want to climb that huge obstacle course, and maybe this is the day to do it!
Explore Weird NJ
Use Leap Day to take a trip to your favorite Weird NJ abandoned, haunted, mysterious, and just plain weird spots in Jersey.
Alright, I admit that it'd be impossible to to ALL of these in one day, simply because of distance (and also hitting 4 breweries plus a biergarten is bad advice)...but hopefully this inspired you to do something with the extra day we get!
