Varacchi’s NFL Playoff Preview – Conference Championship Weekend
I had a mediocre record after Wild Card Weekend. My record stayed stuck at .500 after Divisional Weekend. I need to go 2-for-3 just to ensure a winning record...that said, here are your 2016 Conference Championship Weekend matchups, my “expert” opinions, and score projections! Any monetary losses you suffer are your own fault, but if you win, don’t forget about me.

AFC Championship Game: (2) New England Patriots at (1) Denver Broncos
Sports Authority Field at Mile High, Denver; 3:05 p.m. (ET) on CBS
I still hate the Patriots. Really, really hate them. It will be hard to tolerate the media drooling over Peyton Manning if he leads his team to victory, but it will be even worse to listen to Pats fans. Denver beat New England in November to give the Patriots their first loss of the season, and I think the Broncos defense can keep them alive.
Broncos 24, Patriots 20
NFC Championship Game: (2) Arizona Cardinals at (1) Carolina Panthers
Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte; 6:40 p.m. (ET) on FOX
A rematch of last year's Wild Card matchup; the Panthers won that game 27-16. I will admit I'm completely lost for this game, I see it as a 50-50 toss up. It's hard to go against a Carolina team that went 15-1, and it's hard to to against an Arizona team that can beat you in all aspects of the game. Unlike the AFC game, I don't even have a big rooting interest. I have nothing against either team, I like both quarterbacks, I like both coaches. In the end, I think that the Panthers were able to force Russell Wilson into mistakes that Carson Palmer won't make, and watching a 31 point lead nearly disappear shakes my confidence in Carolina.
Cardinals 27, Panthers 23
