Unruly shoplifter at Toms River Home Depot draws attention of NYPD
An unruly shoplifter and their accomplice at the Home Depot on Route's 9 and 571 in Toms River on Monday around 1:30 pm sparks a manhunt that's now brought in the NYPD.
Toms River Police say the suspect and accomplice, who fled as officers arrived on the scene, crashed their vehicle shortly after getting onto the parkway and fled on foot across the GSP along the northbound lanes heading east.
Both the suspect and accomplice have been identified but further information is not yet available.
"Due to the nature of this on-going investigation we are not releasing further information at this time," Toms River Police spokeswoman Jill Messina said.
Toms River Police Department is working closely with Home Depot, the New York City Police Department and New York State Police.
The public is reminded that criminal charges are accusations only. Every criminal defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
