Two of the most important minds in recent history both had ties to New Jersey. These two men changed the world and both did it with their intelligence. Two geniuses that impacted the world greatly in the last 100 years, but which made their impact first here in New Jersey?

So the question of who came first in New Jersey with their inventions the answer is Edison. Thomas Alva Edison lived in Menlo Park, New Jersey. He is known for inventing the light bulb. Edison patented the light bulb in New Jersey in 1875. According to ThomasEdison.Org  "Thomas Edison's record 1,093 patented inventions have greatly improved the world we know today. In fact, Edison is recognized as one of the greatest inventors of all time. His key inventions include the light bulb and electric utility system, recorded sound, motion pictures, R&D labs, and the alkaline family of storage batteries."

Our other beautiful mind, Albert Einstein didn't introduce his historic theory of relativity until 1916. Additionally, Einstein didn't arrive in New Jersey until 1933, when he arrived in Princeton.

According to Google "The exact date of construction and the builder of the Albert Einstein House are unknown, but the home was probably built in the 1870s or 80s. When Albert Einstein first came to Princeton in 1933, he lived at 2 Library Place. In 1936 he purchased 112 Mercer Street. The house remained his home until his death in 1955."

As far as Thomas Edison, according to Google "Edison purchased Glenmont, a 29-room Queen Anne-style mansion in Llewellyn Park West Orange, New Jersey. It was a wedding gift for his second wife Mina. Edison lived here until his death on October 18, 1931."
