Odds are, you've heard of Burlington Stores, or Burlington Coat Factory. When I was a kid, we'd go to Burlington all the time for back-to-school shopping and winter coats.

As the name may imply, Burlington Stores was founded in Burlington, New Jersey, and has made a name for itself in the world of retail, operating roughly 1,300 stores across 47 states.

Burlington Stores Has Announced Its Relocating Its Corproate HQ

For the past 50 years, Burlington has been headquartered in New Jersey off Route 130 in Burlington. Now, that's going to change.

According to NJ.com, Burlington made the announcement this week that they plan to leave New Jersey and set up shop in Philadelphia.

Why Is Burlington Stores HQ Leaving NJ And Setting Up In PA?

The main reason Burlington is leaving its HQ in New Jersey and moving to Philadelphia is simply that the company has outgrown its location in the Garden State.

The Move Will Create Thousands Of New Jobs

The move will create over 2,000 jobs, and Burlington insists it's still committed to the Garden State, highlighting its new facility in Logan and its Edgwater Park Distribution Center.

Although I agree it's a bummer to see a legendary company like this have to leave the Garden State, it's at least nice that they're relocating literally right across the river from us.
