I'm a huge fan of the Bachelorette.

I started watching it as part of a 'fantasy league' I was doing with my buddies.

They stopped watching it, but here I am a few seasons later just eating up the trash TV.

I love it.

In this season, the Bachelorette is a pilot, and one of the guys on the show said that when he was a kid he and his dad would go to airports to watch planes take off.

This scored him some major brownie points.

The guy said it was a weird thing he and his dad used to do, but is it really?

When I was a kid my dad and I would do something similar but with trains.

We'd go to train tracks, train stations, and train yards and just watch the trains do their thing.

I'd always count the number of cars, and he'd usually know what type of train it was.

Even 25 years later, I still love watching trains and going to train museums.

Either model railroad museums or full-blown operating train yards.

When I lived in Central PA, one of my favorite day trips was going to the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum.

Imagine my surprise when I learned there is an operating train museum right here in Monmouth County.

The New Jersey Museum of Transportation

According to the experts at Only in Your State you can go for a ride on the historic Pine Creek Railroad.

It operates within Allaire State Park in Wall Township.

Their website not only offers a great history lesson on railroading in New Jersey but also showcases some of the cool projects the volunteers at the NJMT are working on.

But, Can You Ride the Trains on the Pine Creek Railroad?

Yes, you can!

They offer weekend tours along their tracks, and also really cool rides during the holiday seasons as well.

If you want to go for a ride on one of these historic trains, the railways are open Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm.

My dad is coming up in a few weekends for a visit, and  I can assure you the conductor hats will be out in full fashion.
