A Toms River man has been arrested as the suspect behind an armed robbery that took place at the Travel Inn and Suites in Lakehurst last Friday.

Police in the borough said that 23-year old Daniel Balwierczak of Toms River allegedly used brass knuckles to intimidate his victims into giving him a cell phone, a pair of shoes, approximately $250.00 in cash and a car key.

When police arrived around 1:33 am, Balwierczak had already left the scene but their investigation identified him as the suspect.

A search warrant was executed at his home on Wednesday where he was arrested by members of the Lakehurst and Toms River Police Department's.

Balwierczak is charged with 1st Degree Robbery, 3rd Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, 3rd Degree Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, 3rd Degree Theft  and Simple Assault (Disorderly Persons).

He was transported to Lakehurst Police Headquarters where he was processed and
issued a warrant for the charges as per bail reform.

Balwierczak was later brought to the Ocean County Jail where he remains pending a
mandatory court appearance with the Ocean County Superior Court.
