Three Long Branch Police Officers were hospitalized on Monday night following a motor vehicle accident while they were chasing suspects wanted in a drug investigation.

While the vehicle was found, the three suspects in the car all took off after the accident.

Two detectives have since been released from care at Monmouth Medical Center, while an officer was being held for observation at Jersey Shore University Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.

Long Branch Police Chief Jason Roebuck said that the pursuit started as a result of a drug investigation and further details will be released when the investigation is completed.

"We have no reason to believe there is any danger to the public, or that the suspects are still in the area. A complete search of the surrounding area was conducted," Chief Roebuck said in a statement. "Please keep the officers in your thoughts as they recover from their injuries. Thank you."

The New Jersey State Policeman's Benevolent Association offered best wishes to the three officers following the accident on Monday.
