It's been a wild 12 months for Jason Pierre-Paul, from the first reports of his injury to the illegal release of his medical records to the contract issues to his sharing of x-rays. He announced he'd be doing Firework Safety PSAs you can see below.

If you don't want a mangled hand with missing digits that forces you to wear a glove/club hybrid, pay attention to these fireworks safety tips!

FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL IN NEW JERSEY

First and foremost, just having fireworks will get you in trouble, let alone setting them off and injuring yourself. American Pyro has a map of which states allow which type of fireworks, and the trio of Delaware, Massachusetts and New Jersey are the only ones that ban all fireworks.

KEEP YOUR PETS INDOORS

Most dogs get agitated by thunderstorms, so exposing them to the loud noises and bright lights of a fireworks display only add to the stress. The extremely loud noises could result in them running away and even jumping fences in an attempt to find safety.  When you go out to see the fireworks, leave the pets at home.

DON'T FEED YOUR PETS BBQ

Not necessarily related to fireworks, but most of us spend the weekend of the Fourth enjoying the grill too. Popular ingredients such as onions, avocado, grapes, salt and yeast dough are all possible hazards for both cats and dogs.

Check out our full list of Fireworks Safety Tips, and have a safe & happy Fourth!
